2015 MEXT Japanese Studies Student Scholarship Details

Level of Studies:
Applicants generally must be born between April 2, 1985 and April 1, 1997. Applicants must be enrolled at a university outside of Japan as undergraduate students majoring in fields related to the Japanese language or Japanese culture at the time of arriving in and leaving Japan. Students majoring in the fields other than Japanese language or Japanese culture who wish to pursue complementary studies in Japanese language and culture should apply for other scholarships, such as the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Student Exchange Support Program (Scholarship for Short-term Study in Japan).
Duration of Program:
Approximately one year from October 2015 (or the starting month of the course). (Extension of the term is prohibited.)

117,000 yen per month. (In case that the recipient does research in a designated region, 2,000 or 3,000 yen per month will be added. The monetary amount each year may be subject to change due to budgetary reasons.)
Tuition and Other Fees:
Fees for the entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition at universities will be paid by the Japanese government.
Roundtrip fare (air ticket) is provided; *If you are selected, you will be supplied with a round-trip economy class ticket from the international airport nearest your home country residence to the New Tokyo International Airport or any other international airport that the appointed university usually uses. Please note that the address you write on your application is considered your home county residence the ticket will be issued for the airport closest to that address. You will not be permitted to change departure locations.
