Consul General Sunaga paid a courtesy call on Chairman Willard at Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO)

On December 9th, Consul General (CG) Sunaga visited Mr. Bob Willard, Chairman of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations at its headquarters. INPO is a non-profit organization with a mission of promoting the highest level of safety and reliability in the operation of commercial nuclear power plants, with its members consisting of operators as well as concerned corporations. INPO's members consist of all organizations having direct responsibility and legal authority to operate or construct commercial nuclear electric generating plants in the United States. During the visit, CG Sunaga expressed gratitude for INPO’s support and consultations provided to Japan coping with the Fukushima nuclear power plants accidents after the East Japan Great Earthquake. He and Chairman Willard, who retired from the U.S. Navy as the Commander, U.S. Pacific Command, exchanged views over various issues including the current Japan-U.S. relations as well as defense policies of respective nations.
