Consul General Sunaga met Governor Bentley on a courtesy visit at the Alabama State Capital
On July 12th, Consul General (CG) Kazuo Sunaga visited the Capital in Montgomery, Alabama, to pay a courtesy call to Governor Robert Bentley. CG Sunaga told Governor Bentley that his primary duties include supporting more than 2,000 Japanese residents and about 130 Japanese companies/businesses in Alabama as well as promoting foreign direct investment from Alabama to Japan and cultural/academic exchange between Japan and the Heart of Dixie. He also expressed his appreciation to Governor Bentley for his support for the activities of the Japanese Consulate General in Alabama. The Governor stated that he considered the business partnership with Japan very important. They also discussed the current Japan-Alabama relationship. Mr. Greg Canfield, Secretary of Commerce of Alabama, and Mr. Elmer Harris, Honorary Consul General Emeritus of Japan, were also in attendance.
