CG Shinozuka attends a screening of the movie “Persona Non Grata” at the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival
On February 1, Consul General and Mrs. Shinozuka were invited to a screening of a movie, “Persona Non Grata” (Sugihara Chiune in Japanese), as part of the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival (AJFF).
The movie tells the true story of a Japanese diplomat, Mr. Chiune Sugihara, who was posted in Kaunas, Lithuania during World War II. Mr. Sugihara issued transit visas for Japan to many Jewish who were trying to escape the Nazis. The movie was released last year in Japan; this screening was the premiere. The movie’s director, Mr. Cellin Gluck, was also in attendance. During the question and answer session after the movie, a guest told him, “Thank you for the wonderful movie.” Known to be the largest Jewish film festival in the world, AJFF has scheduled “Persona Non Grata” for five showings.
