Consul General Shinozuka’s visit to Macon-Bibb, Georgia
On May 4th, Consul General Shinozuka visited Macon-Bibb, Georgia to pay a courtesy visit to Mayor Robert Reichert.
CG Shinozuka remarked that the city of Macon-Bibb has deep ties with Japan including a 40 year sister city relationship with Kurobe, Toyama Prefecture, hosting the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, Japanese companies Nichiha and YKK, and he hopes that the support of Japanese community and companies will continue in the future. CG Shinozuka also expressed gratitude to Macon-Bibb for hosting participants in the homestay program for the 2016 Japan-America Grassroots Summit taking place in October this year.
Mayor Reichert remarked on the significant contributions to the city made by Japanese companies, promoting a good relationship with Japanese companies and the local and Japanese community, and his excitement for the Japan-America Grassroots Summit this October.
During this visit, Consul General Shinozuka had the opportunity to visit YKK USA Inc., and Nichiha USA Inc., meet with executives and tour the facilities.
Additionally, Consul General Shinozuka also attended the luncheon organized by The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce and Macon Economic Development Commissison with Ms. Starr Purdue, Board Chair of Macon Economic Development Commission, Mr. George Greer, Board Chair of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Carolyn Clayton, President and CEO Emeritus, KMBBC/Cerry Bolossom Festival and other dignitries.
