Consul General Sunaga’s courtesy visit to the new GA Commissioner for Economic Development (November 20, 2013)
On November 20th, Consul General (CG) Kazuo Sunaga paid a courtesy call to Mr. Chris Carr, the new Commissioner for GA Economic Development. Commissioner Carr, who served as the Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson for seven years, was appointed by Governor Deal and took office as head of the state’s economic development on November 1st. CG Sunaga told the new Commissioner that his primary duties include supporting more than 500 Japanese companies & businesses in Georgia as well as promoting foreign direct investment from Georgia to Japan. Commissioner Carr and CG Sunaga affirmed their commitment to cooperate and further promote Japan-Georgia business and trade relations that have 40 years of history. Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Tokyo Office is the oldest overseas office that they established for the marketing and sales of Georgia products. Established in 1973, the Tokyo office celebrated its 40th anniversary this year.
