(Oct. 1, 2013-Nov. 15, 2013)
From October 1st through November 15th the first annual Japanese Maples Festival was held at Gibbs Gardens, about 50 miles north of Atlanta.
This year was the first Japanese Maples Festival with two “Festival Weekends” on October 26-27 and November 2-3 (when the brilliant autumn colors of the over 2,000 Japanese maples in Gibbs Garden would be at their peak). During the “Festival Weekends,” the Japanese Maples Festival gave as many as 7,000 visitors the opportunity to enjoy and experience various performances and demonstrations of Japanese arts and culture surrounded by the beautiful fall foliage at Gibbs Gardens.
On Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27, the Consulate-General of Japan provided a booth with an exhibit introducing the seasons in Japan, along with information on Japanese arts and culture.
