On April 5, 2013, members of the Consulate General of Japan visited Honda Precision Parts of Georgia, LLC (HPPG) in Tallapoosa, GA and had a facility tour following the briefing on the operation conducted by Mr. Hiroshi Honda, Division Manager for Manufacturing, Mr. Haruyoshi Oishi, Division Manager for Plant Operation and Mr. Takuya Kunugiza, Director for Human Resources.

.

HONDA is known to have established American Honda Motor Company in 1959 and pioneered production of 4-wheel vehicles in the United States as a Japanese automaker. HPPG was established in 2005 to produce transmissions and related parts for the “Odyssey” and the “Pilot” that are produced at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, LLC. In the entrance hall of HPPG are displayed a replica of the first transmission that was produced in Tallapoosa factory, a cut model of transmission created by the HPPG associates along with certificates/appreciations for HPPG community services.

The City of Tallapoosa and its neighboring area was once very prosperous with cotton and textile industries in the early 1900s. With the unfortunate decline of these industries over time, the city had to develop initiatives to bring in new business. The establishment of HPPG in Tallapoosa is considered a turning point for the city’s economic development.
