Chairman Giles of Japan Virginia Society awarded with the Certificate of Commendation
On June 13, Consul General Sunaga attended the Virginia Nippon Classic event hosted by the State of Virginia which was held outside of Richmond, Virginia and made remarks on the strong economic ties between Japan and Virginia.
CG Sunaga took this opportunity to present Japan Virginia Society Chairman Jerry Giles with the Certificate of Commendation. The certificate recognizes organizations and individuals for their hard work and dedication to promoting mutual understanding and friendship between various countries or regions and Japan. Since elected as the Chairman in 1998, Mr. Giles has been leading the Society with its activities of promoting international cooperation at non-government and corporate levels as well as mutual cultural understanding and trade/ investment between Japan and Virginia. The Certificate of Commendation by the Consul General was awarded in praise of Chairman Giles’ contributions for his leadership in the past 16 years.
Deputy Secretary Hill, members of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership as well as the Japan Virginia Society were among the 40 people in attendance at this event.
