Visit to Kowa Pharmaceuticals America, Inc. in Montgomery, AL
On July 11th, Consul General (CG) Kazuo Sunaga visited Kowa Pharmaceuticals America, Inc. (KPA) in Montgomery, Alabama. The company, started in 2001 as ProEthic Laboratories, LLC., was acquired by Kowa Company, Ltd. , a privately held multinational company headquartered in Nagoya, Japan in 2008. KPA focuses its efforts on the licensing, sales and marketing of pharmaceutical products in the United States. Now, KPA is marketing two Lipid-Lowering therapies and the company has greatly contributed to the local economy. The executive members of the KPA including the company’s President and CEO, Mr. Ben Stakely, as well as Japanese associates welcomed CG Sunaga and briefed him on the company’s activities. The company kindly arranged so that Mr. Todd Strange, Mayor of the City of Montgomery, joined the meeting as well.
