On March 23, CG Sunaga participated in several events at the Macon International Cherry Blossom Festival such as the Opening Morning Service, Stone lantern lighting ceremony, and a parade.

At the Stone Lantern lighting ceremony, Macon Mayor Robert Reichert spoke about the importance of the relationship Macon has with its Japanese sister-city Kurobe, as well as with Japan. The national anthems of the associated countries of this year’s festival were performed at the ceremony by students from local Wesleyan University. Ms. Rivers performed the Japanese national anthem.

Following the ceremony, the annual parade was held and various organizations including YKK, which has long ties with the festival, participated surrounded by a cheering crowd.
