Consul General Shinozuka attends luncheon hosted by South Carolina Governor Haley (March 16, 2008)
On March 16th, Consul General Shinozuka attended a luncheon at the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion in Columbia. The luncheon was hosted by Governor Nikki Haley for consulates with South Carolina in their jurisdiction.
South Carolina is home to about 2100 Japanese residents and there are about 200 Japanese businesses located in the state. The Keidanren Mission recently visited the state, and the economic relations and development of large-scale factories have grown in recent years. In 2017, the 40th Annual Joint Meeting of the Southeast US-Japan Association (SEUS-Japan) is scheduled to be held in Greenville, SC.
At the luncheon, Consul General expressed his appreciation for the strong ties between Japan and South Carolina, his gratitude for the support of the South Carolina Government to Japanese residents and businesses, and asked for continued support in the future. Governor Haley remarked on the important relationship between Japan and South Carolina and hopes to continue to strengthen the relationship in the future.
