Pep Rally for “Sakura Sevens”, Japanese team for the HSBC World Women’s Rugby Sevens Series
On April 4, a pep rally for the “Sakura Sevens”, the Japanese Women’s Rugby Sevens Series team, was held at the Consul General’s official residence in Atlanta. The players were visiting Atlanta in order to compete in the third round of the "HSBC World Rugby Women's Sevens Series 2015-2016" (April 8-9).
A total of 21 people, including Team Captain Chiharu Nakamura and other players, Kensuke Iwabuchi, Japan national team general manager of the Japan Rugby Football Union director were present at the pep rally.
In addition, Takuya Yamada, Georgia Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Kazuyoshi Domoto, Secretary General of the Japan America Society of Georgia, and Toru Sato, Principal of the Georgia Japanese School, from the Japanese community here in Atlanta gave speeches of encouragement.
Consul General Takashi Shinozuka said, “I sincerely looking forward to the success of the Japanese Rugby team. There are many Japanese companies present in Atlanta, and I think that the Japanese community is encouraged by the great efforts of the rugby team. I pray that there are no injuries and the team gives their best effort during the tournament”.
After speaking with the team, the pep rally came to a close as Head Coach Keiko Asami expressed gratitude and aspirations for the tournament, and a commemorative souvenir was presented from the players.
