Nobuyuki Tsujii Piano Concert at the University of Georgia

On March 19, 2013, the University of Georgia Performing Arts Center (PAC) presented Nobuyuki Tsujii, a 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Gold Medalist from Japan, at a concert that was attended by 400 people including PAC members, UGA faculty members, students and classical music fans. The program was half Debussy and half Chopin piano works. When Mr. Tsujii finished his performance of the last piece "Polonaise-Heroique in A-flat Major", the audience applauded with a standing ovation.
.After playing "Rigoletto-Paraphrase" by Franz Liszt as an encore, Mr. Tsujii talked to the audience expressing his appreciation for all the support extended by the American people for those affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in March 2011, as March 11 marked two years since the devastating disaster in Japan. Mr. Tsujii then performed "We Still Go on and Live our Lives" which he composed himself and dedicated to those affected by the disaster.
After the concert, Mr. Tsujii met with the audience providing autographs and taking photos with them. One lady commended on his performance saying "I was speechless at his performance!" Dr. George Foreman, PAC Director, told members of the Consulate General of Japan in Atlanta that Mr. Tsujii was simply incredible. He also said that there are many good musicians in Japan and he would like to welcome more of them to perform at PAC.
