Asian Pacific American Presentation
May 17
The US Department of Labor and the Environmental Protection Agency co-sponsored “Asian Pacific American Month” in May, with an event at the Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Center.
On the day of the event, Department of Labor staff opened with a martial arts demonstration, and Georgia Power’s Dr. Josephine Tan gave remarks stressing the importance of cross-cultural awareness.
The Consulate-General of Japan presented origami and Japanese kimono in its booth, with a full-size uchikake as well as representative dolls for various styles of kimono. Many of the nearly-80 attendees were moved by the beauty of the kimonos on display.
