CG Sunaga visits Auburn University

On October 22, CG Sunaga visited Auburn University in the state of Alabama where he gave a lecture on Japanese economic policies, focusing on Abenomics, to about 130 political geography majors and honor students. Prior to the lecture, CG Sunaga met with Japanese professors and Japanese students studying at Auburn University and attended a luncheon with University faculty.
After delivering his speech, CG Sunaga paid a courtesy call on Auburn University president Jay Gogue. CG Sunaga and President Gogue spoke about the issues pertaining to Japan’s aging society and declining birthrate, foreign language education at the university, and opportunities to work together in future endeavors.
In addition, CG Sunaga met with faculty in charge of the international program and discussed the cooperation between Japanese educational institutes and Japanese companies. Then, CG Sunaga sat down with a Japanese teacher and students taking Japanese classes to talk about opportunities for working together on events introducing Japanese culture.
