4,500 guests gathered at Wachovia Atrium in Charlotte for the 24th Annual Bon Dance Festival. Activities featured included a taiko drumming performance by group Matsuriza, a Bon Dance in which visitors were invited to participate, martial arts demonstrations, a tea ceremony, and other Japanese crafts and food.

The Japanese Consulate also put on a booth display and exhibit of various materials introducing Japanese culture, including local festivals, food, dolls and many others for the festival attendees.
