Clemson University’s CLIP (Clemson Language Intensive Program) Participants Visit
June 1

Five CLIP participants from South Carolina’s Clemson University visited the Consulate-General of Japan in Atlanta with Professor Toshiko Kishimoto and her assistant Yukiko Fujita as part of a two-day research trip to Atlanta.

During their visit, the students learned about the role of the Consulate-General and Japan-US relations in the Southeast. The students also introduced themselves in Japanese and conversed with Consulate staff.

After the discussion, the students watched a documentary on the Great East Japan Earthquake, once more unable to hide their expressions of sadness and fright at the scale of the disaster. The students expressed their admiration for the people in the disaster area, who came together as one following the disaster, determined to preserve their communities.
