Dashi Cooking Demonstration at Viking Cooking School

Guests watch the demonstration both up-close and over video.
The Consulate General of Japan, with the Japan Foundation and Viking Cooking School, presented a Japanese cooking demonstration by Mr. Masahiko Yanagihara. Mr. Yanagihara, the head chef of Sushi Koma in Tokyo, gave a demonstration on the various uses of dashi, or Japanese soup stock.
38 guests came to see Mr. Yanagihara prepare three dishes with the dashi. He made dashi-maki tamago, a Japanese rolled omelet, chawan-mushi, a custard dish, and takikomi gohan, a seasonal rice dish with various vegetables and meat or fish.

Mr. Yanagihara stayed busy preparing dishes.
