The 76th Atlanta Annual Dogwood Festival
April 21-22
The Consulate General of Japan participated in the 76th Atlanta Annual Dogwood Festival from April 21-22 at Piedmont Park, which annually draws approximately 250,000 visitors.
The Consulate booth was located in the International Village section of the festival and introduced the Japanese custom of cherry blossom viewing to visitors. Many children enjoyed folding origami cherry blossoms while their parents sampled hot green tea and learned about the 100th anniversary of the gift of cherry trees to the United States from Japan.
Congressman John Lewis of the 5th Congressional District of Georgia stopped by our booth on Sunday to enjoy the display.
