Hakata Doll Display and Reception at Après Diem

As a companion event to the Atlanta premiere of the film "I Wish" at Landmark Art Cinema, two Hakata doll experts from Japan, Mr. Shôji Kajiwara and Mr. Tokio Shibata, visited Atlanta to demonstrate their art. Hakata dolls are special unglazed dolls specially tied to the Fukuoka region which features prominently in "I Wish." For the film’s premiere, the two masters displayed their skills in painting dolls and showing guests the unique qualities of Hakata dolls.
For the reception over 100 guests were invited, and attendees were treated not only to the master craftsmen’s demonstration, but a special display from Japan Railways Kyushu of their bullet train “Tsubame” as well. Not only did guests for the reception get to see the model, but theater patrons were given the chance as well inside the theater lobby.
