JapanFest 2010
(September 18-19, 2010)

The Kanrin-maru set sail once again at the booth of the Consulate General of Japan.
The booth for the Consulate General of Japan was again divided into two sections: one to provide consular services to Japanese citizens on-site at JapanFest and another for cultural and educational information. The main display was a photo collection celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first Japanese diplomatic mission to the United States, complete with a two-foot-long model of the first Japanese piloted ship to cross the Pacific, the Kanrin-maru.
The theme of this year’s Japanfest was “Discover Japan,” highlighting the differences among the various regions of Japan. There was a variety of special events, including a series of workshops on different prefectures, performances of different local folk dances, and a special visit by Mr. BunBun from Fukuoka City.

Mr. Bunbun, a comedian from Fukuoka, saves the son of Princess Sara with the help of an audience member.
