For 2011 the Japanese Film Festival’s theme was food, with three very different films all focusing on cuisine. “Chef of the South Pole” (南極料理人), the story of a man preparing meals for a research team in the Antarctic, “The Taste of Fish” (築地魚河岸三代目), a romantic comedy based on a manga that takes place in the Tsukiji Fish Market, and “Kamome Diner” (かもめ食堂), the story of a Japanese restaurateur in Finland, were shown each Friday from March 4 to March 18.
