Lecture and Workshop on Japanese Gardens
at the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Georgia Perimeter College
(November 3 and 4, 2010)

Mr. Oshita began with a slide presentation and lecture.
Mr. Masashi Oshita, a Japanese gardening expert, gave a lecture and brief demonstration at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. In his presentation he used not only examples of his own work, but he showed the audience photos from gardens all over Japan and explained the defining points within each photograph.
Students at Georgia Perimeter College in Dunwoody also got a chance to participate in a special gardening workshop by Mr. Oshita. Students were given miniature dry landscape gardens in which they could make their own landscape designs, and Mr. Oshita explained rock placement using their work.

Students arrange rocks in frames for dry landscape gardens, or karesansui.
