Children's Day at Roswell Budokan
(May 1, 2010)

Aikido Demonstration by Roswell Budokan Students
With the help of a great number of volunteers and the cooperation of the staff of Roswell Budokan in particular, the Children's Day Celebration on May 1 drew in a large number of families with children from schools in the Roswell area. The event was held from 1:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon, but there was a lot to see and do in those four hours.
Besides martial arts demonstrations and music performances, there was a variety of activities. Storytelling in the form of kami-shibai, where the storyteller uses both words and pictures, robotics displays and demonstrations from PARO Robots and Georgia Tech, arts and crafts such as origami and making paper carp streamers (koi nobori) were all part of the day’s events. There were also toys and games, online challenges, and summer kimono (yukata) for children to wear. Finally, there was a drawing to win a signed baseballs and photos from Braves pitchers Kenshin Kawakami and Takashi Saito.
