Attended by approximately 600 guests and visitors, the 4th Annual Multicultural Festival, held in Atlanta in Parkerson Park is a relatively new event, sponsored primarily by Congressman John Lewis, but with support from many exhibitors and supporters. This was the first time for the Japan Information Center to participate. Congressman Lewis provided short remarks before commencing the event.

JIC put on its full booth display, complete with panels, television, food culture introductions, and a wide assortment of free materials, including uchiwa fans, postcards, and picture frames. Fact Sheets included subjects such as Fashion, Music, Pop Culture, and Martial Arts. The "Konnichiwa Club," a volunteer cultural education group of Japanese women in Georgia, was also on hand to hold origami workshops.
