Information Collecting on the Southeast's Cherry Blossoms

Following the cherry tree planting ceremony held at the Georgia Governor’s Mansion on March 1, other plantings were held on March 17 at Birmingham, AL, and the "Cherry Blossom Capitol of America" Macon, GA.

The cherry blossom season is fast approaching in the Southeast. As part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Japan’s gift of cherry trees to the United States, the Consulate-General of Japan in Atlanta is gathering together information on the region’s major cherry blossom spots.

It is our hope that all of you who have cherry trees at your homes, on your daily commute, or in your neighborhood will share those spots with us.

We would be thrilled if you could send any photos or locations of cherry trees to the email address written below. If you can’t provide a photograph, please send along a description of the area and the cherry trees. Thank you!
