Consul General Maeda Attends the Daikin Festival

On May 3, Consul General Maeda and his wife attended the Daikin Festival in Decatur, Alabama. They visited various booths introducing Japanese culture and cuisine such as Japanese calligraphy, Yakisoba, and Yakitori, and then joined other visitors in the Bon-Odori, a Japanese style dance, commonly performed at Japanese summer festivals. The Daikin Festival has been held since May 1994 and recently attracts more than 20,000 visitors each year. It is widely recognized by locals as a leading Japanese festival in North Alabama and one of the best opportunities to experience Japanese traditions and culture in the state.
