Consul General Maeda attends “Japan Day” commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Consulate General of Japan in Atlanta held at the State Capitol (January 23, 2024)


On January 23rd, Consul General Maeda gave his speech at “Japan Day”, which was held at the Georgia State Capitol to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Consulate. The event was hosted by Georgia-Japan Legislative Caucus Co-Chairs, and was attended by Governor Kemp, former Governor Deal, Commissioner Wilson of the Georgia Economic Development, and many others. Governor Kemp presented Consul General Maeda a commendation acknowledging a flourishing partnership between Japan and Georgia for more than 50 years.
The event included table displays featuring products from Japanese companies and concluded with singing by the students from the International Charter Academy of Georgia.
One the same day, each Chamber of the Georgia General Assembly introduced resolutions commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Consulate General of Japan in Atlanta. The resolutions, adopted by the State Senate and House of Representatives earlier, recognized the Consulate’s efforts in strengthening ties between Georgia and Japan. On the Senate floor, Consul General Maeda was handed over the resolution.
