Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize citation and medal presented to the Carter Center (Mar 3)

On March 3, 2023, Consul General Maeda presented the Fourth Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize citation by Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and medal to the Carter Center.
In 2022, The Government of Japan awarded the Fourth Hideyo Noguchi Africa Prize in the Medical Services category to the Guinea Worm Eradication Program. The Guinea Worm Eradication Program, led by The Carter Center, and in partnership with stakeholders in Africa, including ministries of health in Africa, local communities, nongovernmental organizations, the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and many others, has successfully achieved the near eradication of the Guinea worm disease.
